I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP).
I was completely taken by surprise by Jaded Touch. In the first few chapters, I wasn't sure if I could finish it; it was hard to follow and Rachel's character, I thought, made the story child-like with nursery rhymes (seriously?). I actually started reading another book and was about to add JT to my "couldn't finish" shelf.
Thank goodness I didn't! After the train wreck, the story became addicting, beautifully dark (maybe because Rachel wasn't around??), and romantic. And once it started, it was non-stop: wanting to know what/who caused the train wreck, what will happen with Three & Jack or Three & Sychar, and Three's tormented life.
This short story was a concentration of emotions. One moment, you're laughing at Three's internal conflict and internal dialog, in awe over Three & Jack's relationship, angered by Rachel's bullying, or in suspense wondering what's going to happen next!
I loved how everything came together in the end. Full circle. The last few pages make the story, especially the last statement. Without giving away spoilers, all I can is...WOW!
Very well done, Nola!
