Choices of Fate by Simone Chavous
I was given this book in exchange for a review (LoP)
I loved the originality of this story! It was like a breath of fresh air to main stream vampire stories.
As with most series, this first book did go slow in the beginning. Though this was important to establish Alexa and Ethan's relationship and attraction to each other, it may read better condensed into a few chapters and incorporated with the flashbacks. Maybe as a prologue?
The characters were well written and realistic. They had just enough depth and description that you could imagine their faces and know their personalities. Yet, it didn't bog down the story.
This was the mother of all cliffhangers!! It made the entire book worth reading, and rereading! You're literary in shock, sitting on the edge of your seat, holding your breath wondering "WTH HAPPENED?!?!?" Needless to say, I'm very much looking forward to book 2 :)

Jaded Touch by Nola Sarina
I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP).
I was completely taken by surprise by Jaded Touch. In the first few chapters, I wasn't sure if I could finish it; it was hard to follow and Rachel's character, I thought, made the story child-like with nursery rhymes (seriously?). I actually started reading another book and was about to add JT to my "couldn't finish" shelf.
Thank goodness I didn't! After the train wreck, the story became addicting, beautifully dark (maybe because Rachel wasn't around??), and romantic. And once it started, it was non-stop: wanting to know what/who caused the train wreck, what will happen with Three & Jack or Three & Sychar, and Three's tormented life.
This short story was a concentration of emotions. One moment, you're laughing at Three's internal conflict and internal dialog, in awe over Three & Jack's relationship, angered by Rachel's bullying, or in suspense wondering what's going to happen next!
I loved how everything came together in the end. Full circle. The last few pages make the story, especially the last statement. Without giving away spoilers, all I can is...WOW!
Very well done, Nola!
